Week Without Walls 2007
Students travelled to Thailand for a week of school without walls. At this time, they explored Chiang Mai and the culture of the Thai people. The name of the village we visted in northern Thailand is Huay Hoi, Huay means pond and Hoi means shell. The name is derived from the following story. When the Karen people arrived in this region they found a pond full of shells, thus the village was named Huay Hoi meaning "shell pond". This is not a local Thai village, but a Karen village, the largest hilltribe in Thailand. There are about 150 people living in the village. In the school there are about 140 students (they also come from the villages close by). As part of this study, students researched one aspect of Thailand then apply the Big 6 Information problem solving process to present a collaborative research paper. They applied this wiki to presented their projects. Please note the students are learning these processes and are encouraged to improve and make corrections as they learn.
